Charlotte Roller Girls Announce Plans for Special Bout to be Held on 12/6

Charlotte Roller GirlsMany sports hold special fan appreciation events. Major League Baseball has the Home Run Derby, NASCAR has the All Star Race, NHL has the Winter Classic and now the Charlotte Roller Girls have the Battle of the Ages: Cougars vs. Kittens.

On December 6 at the Grady Cole Center, all your favorite Charlotte Roller Girls will battle head to head in a competition that will seek to answer the question – youth or experience? The nearly 40 players in the league will be split into two teams based upon age. Those aged 34 and under will make up the Kittens while those 35 and older will be the Cougars.

“Repairs to the Grady Cole Center forced us to cancel our September 12 bout,” said Charlotte Roller Girls president Emily Kupprion. “We didn’t want to end our home season with a cancellation so we decided to schedule this one final bout and create something special for our fans. Our league already has a friendly rivalry between the younger and older players. Nothing creates intensity at a bout like a good old fashioned rivalry.”

Ticket prices for the Battle of the Ages bout have been lowered. All adult tickets are $10, instead of $14 at the door, while all kids tickets are $5.

“We are living in a tough economy and wanted to give back to our fans,” continued Kupprion. “This is our holiday gift to them. Like our first bout of the season, we expect this one to sell out. Fans are urged to buy their tickets in advance to avoid being shut out.”

The league is made up of players with a wide range of ages. The youngest skater Marissa Sherman a.k.a. Margaret Snatch’her is 24 while the most ‘veteran’ skater Pam Brown a.k.a. Pamela Ander-Slam is 46.

“These youngsters haven’t got a chance,” said Brown. “Cougars eat Kittens for breakfast. I may be the oldest but I also hit the hardest. Don’t believe me? Try me!”

Despite the confidence of Brown and the Cougars, Sherman and the Kittens are sure they have the advantage.

“Our stamina makes up for what we lack in experience,” said Sherman. “To make those old Cougars more comfortable, I suggest they replace their bench with rocking chairs. We are going to skate circles around them.”

Doors open at 5:15 p.m. with the bout starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale now here or in person at The Common Market. The Grady Cole Center is located at 310 N. Kings Drive. Access to the after party event, held at the Dilworth Neighborhood Grille 911 E. Morehead Street, is included with the purchase of every adult ticket.
