A Successful Saturday Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On Saturday, January 19, we took part in the Hands On Charlotte MLKServe day in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The ladies designed cute onesies for single moms in women centers, created fun cards to send to our soldiers, donated blood, wrapped books to be given to children, and more!

According to Hands on Charlotte (HOC), volunteers at all three locations contributed to the following:

  • Wrapped 5,000 books and made 600 bookmarks for Promising Pages;
  • Sorted 3,500 donated coats, plus 400 hats, gloves and socks for Crisis Assistance Ministry;
  • Stuffed 3,000 pouches with pencils/pens/erasers, and sorted 18,000 mechanical pencils into 750 bags for Classroom Central;
  • Decorated 1,200 dog adoption bandanas for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control;
  • Assembled 800 paracord bracelets to benefit veterans and military families.

It was a busy, and wonderful day. We are always thrilled to be part of events where we can help the Charlotte community. Thank you to everyone who volunteered. There was a great turn-out!
