The Charlotte Roller Girls Announce Dublin Dog Foundation as 2014 Community Partner

Charlotte Roller Girls (CLTRG) has joined forces with The Dublin Dog Foundation to help build awareness of their effort to connect those in need in our community with therapeutic and service dogs. CLTRG will support the organization in a number of ways, including financial support by donating a portion of 2014 game proceeds and participation in community events bringing awareness to this wonderful charity.

The mission of the Dublin Dog Foundation is to foster the therapeutic and service roles of dogs in the support, development, and inspiration they provide to their human companions.

Over the past three years, the Dublin Dog Foundation has helped to pair three separate individuals with service dogs. The recipients have ranged from a mother with Cerebral Palsy who is trying to care for her child with a disability, to a soldier who lost his leg protecting our country in Afghanistan, to a 10-year-old boy suffering from a crippling childhood genetic condition. This year, we turn our focus to Alex Roche, a wonderful, determined 9-year-old boy who suffered a massive stroke at 7 days old resulting in his cerebellum being destroyed and doctor’s saying that he would never see, eat, walk, talk or even breathe. Alex proved them wrong! He continues to improve through physical therapy and Applied Behavioral Analysis, and a dog from Dublin Dog Foundation will be a great guide, and friend, for Alex.

On March 8, CLTRG will join Dublin Dog Foundation for their community event “Shamrock and Roll Over” at Connolly’s Irish Pub. Shamrock and Roll Over is one event you do NOT want to miss. This annual event will feature great music, food, and drinks to benefit Alex Roche, this years’ Dublin Dog recipient. A raffle will take place featuring some really cool prizes!

Come join Dublin Dog Foundation and CLTRG for a great evening of tasty drinks, awesome food, and exciting prizes. Saturday March 8, 5-8 PM at Connolly’s Irish Pub located @ 115 E 5th N in downtown Charlotte! Tickets are $20 in advance ($25 at the door), for ALL YOU CAN EAT and DRINK from 5:00 – 8:00! Local food hero Goose is cooking his famous BBQ!
