New Skater Skills Workshop

WHERE: CLTRG Warehouse

New Skater Derby Skills Workshop is an introduction to basic roller derby skills. It is a prerequisite for joining regular practices with the Charlotte Roller Girls (CLTRG). This is not a try-out, this is an opportunity to learn introductory roller derby skating skills prior to joining “newbie” practices with CLTRG.

You must RSVP to ensure we have an adequate number of trainers available.

Girls on the Run 5K

WHEN: May 12, 2012 @ 9:00 am

WHERE: The Park at Huntersville, NC

The Charlotte Roller Girls will be supporting their community partner, Girls on the Run at their annual 5k on May 12th. The 5k is the culminating event of the 12-week program that strives to teach young women self-esteem through exercise. The ladies will be helping with day of activities including preparation and cheering the young women on.

The Charlotte Roller Girls Ride Easy into 2012

WHEN: Saturday, January 21, 2012

WHERE: Charlotte Convention Center, 501 South College Street

Join the Charlotte Roller Girls Saturday, January 21st as they have at each other and battle for bragging rights in 3 exhibition bouts at the Easyriders 2012 Bike Tour held at the Charlotte Convention Center. The mini-bouts will pit CLTRG skater vs. CLTRG skater as the ladies divide themselves into black against purple. While the exhibitions aren’t full regulation games they will be sure to whet your appetite for the coming season.

The first demo bout of the day is scheduled to begin at 11:30am and run until 12:15 PM. The second game will run from 2 PM to 2:45. The final match-up of the evening will start at 5 PM and end at 6. Fans will have a chance to meet some of the skaters and get autographs in between bouts. Exclusive, limited edition merchandise will also be available. Come out and show your support for the official WFTDA league in Charlotte. And oh yeah, we’ve heard the bikes are pretty amazing, too.

The Easy Rider 2012 Bike Tour will roll into town at the Charlotte Convention Center on January 21st and 22nd. Doors open at 10 AM and stay open until 8 PM. Adult Admission is $20. Kids aged 6-12 can get in the door for $10. Kids 5 and under are admitted free of charge. Visit the Easyriders website for more details.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

WHERE: Tryon and 9th, Up Town

The Charlotte Roller Girls will be skating their way down Tryon Street, decked in green, to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at the annual Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Charlotte Roller Girls have participated in the parade for a number of years and are excited to, once again, show a little Irish spirit!

Sleepy Poet Annual Spring Yard Sale and Blood Drive

WHEN: April 14, 2012

WHERE: Sleepy Poet Antique Mall

The Charlotte Roller Girls will be participating in the annual Spring Yard Sale and Blood Drive with longtime sponsor, Sleepy Poet Antique Mall. Twice a year, Sleepy Poet partners with the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas and Loaves and Fishes to collect blood and raise money for a god cause. League members will be on hand, donating their own blood and selling you barbeque. You will also have the opportunity to pick up some official CLTRG merchandise to show your support for the league.

The Charlotte Roller Girls’ participation in the fall event last November was their most successful to date, with 18 pints of blood and over $300 in donations being collected. Help us set an even higher record this year. So come out and enjoy the spring weather with us. We hope to see you there!
