Over the Edge

Over the Edge

In 2011 the Charlotte Roller Girls were the most successful team in Charlotte participating in the Over the Edge fundraising efforts and raised over $5300 for the Special Olympics.

CLTRG skaters BoToxic Bruz’Her, Rosie Cheeks, Emmylou Harass, and StarSpangled BanGRRR, and the official league chiropractor, Dr. Tony Peters, all took the 35-story plunge.

This year CLTRG is at it again! Three league members have signed up to take the plunge this year and need your help in raising funds for this incredible cause. The brave league members won’t be going Over the Edge until Saturday, October 13. They will be plummeting from the 43rd floor of the VUE Charlotte on West 5th Street in uptown. A kickoff party is scheduled Wednesday, June 27 at Icehouse South End from 6-8 p.m. for those interested in learning more about Over the Edge and the Special Olympics.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
