I started out last year playing banked track derby in St. Petersburg, FL. I’ve been on the CRG team for a few months and have enjoyed learning the physics on the flat track and the different rules/strategies. I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to play both types because that is rare in the world of roller derby.
What got you into roller derby?
I was hooked the first time I attended a Charlotte Roller Girl bout! I loved skating as a kid in the 80’s and wanted to get back into it. I love that it is an empowering, full-contact sport for females. I feel like a strong and powerful athlete when I’m on the track and I’m addicted to that feeling! I’m very grateful for this wonderful sport and everyone involved in it.
How did you come up with your name?
I was born and raised in NC so I thought is was appropriate to honor the Tarheel state as Carolina Scarheel.
What is your biggest goal this year?
MVP B-Dazzlers Blocker
187 gear is my favorite gear.
